Tired of the same image of yesterday’s palaces turning into rubble to the tune of fear and confusion, tired of the identity of ignorance and arrogance, tired too of the pastime of creative mediocrity, we are on a mission to provide an alternative, to celebrate the timeless connection of the Arab past with its present, its mother-tongue with its youth, and its talent with its audience – for Arabs, and for the world. Our turning point, the centre of our momentum, the nuqta of our short story, is the Wasla music festival. We have brought together some of the region’s most eminent celebrations of alternative Arabism to share in our vision, including established talents and rising stars from across the Arab world. Those who have been listening to the rest of the world’s noise, will witness the world’s first Arab alternative music festival. As a team, we will manifest our journey to connect the dots, spread our message to audiences worldwide, and celebrate the redefinition of what it means to hail from this part of the universe.
