School Comparer is a very easy to use application that helps you to systematically score and rank schools that you are considering for your child. Simply add your list of schools, add a list of factors you consider important, e.g music facilities, classroom size, then for each school give a score for each of those factors. The scores are summed up and displayed in a summary section which allows you to visually compare the schools with ease. Ordered lists provided a definitive ranking, clearly indicating the top contenders overall, a matrix view displays the scores for all factors for each school, helping to spot highlights and low points, in single view the spider diagram provide a instant relative comparison. Factors can have a weighting associated with them, e.g. 'proximity' maybe less important to you than 'sporting facilities', so you would assign a higher weighting to the sporting facilities and less to proximity. The ranking system will apply the ranking to ensure your scores are proportional weighted. Results can sometimes be surprising and the value in this type of ranking analysis is that it can help apply a more objective approach to school selection, making it easy to prioritise those fulfilling your most important criteria. Simplicity is the priority in the design of this app so there are only a two others settings that you can configure; you can enable negative scoring and choose the maximum score that could be applied to each factor.
